Art in Baie des Sirènes

At La Baie des Sirènes, art blends harmoniously with the natural beauty of the surroundings. Every corner of our resort is an invitation to discover the artistic and cultural soul of the region, enhanced by carefully selected works of local inspiration.

Stroll through our spaces, where sculptures, paintings and installations tell the story of the history and traditions that shape our identity. We collaborate with talented artists to create an environment that awakens the senses and nourishes the spirit.

Jems Koko Bi

Ndjolefen, 2023

“Ndjolefen? A Wolof word meaning: together to resist. It’s the name given to a multicultural urban village in Saint-Louis in Senegal, an invitation to Unity of the Continent to stand together against colonial destruction…”. – Franck Hermann Ekra. From the Mé forest, where around a hundred trees felled and uprooted by human will had ceased to exist, Jems Koko Bi chose to open a dialogue between two kingdoms, that of man and the forest. Some of these dead trees inspired the artist’s work Ndjolefen, in which he reveals a history of domination, inseparable from its logic of predation and extraction. Dabéma (chilli wood) was used by men to build infrastructure to exploit the resources of Côte d’Ivoire. This boat is a symbol of freedom and hope for the future.

ROMÉO MIVEKANNIN

ALMA, 2022

Alma – a reference to Alma mater, the “< nurturing mother >> – takes Romeo Mivekannin back to the land where he was born.
Designed as a chapel in homage to the artist’s father, this dome-shaped installation is an ode to contemplation and remembrance. Between the visible and invisible worlds, the artist invites the public to take a stroll around and within this space, which reconnects them to themselves, to the secret and spiritual worlds. The passage from one world to another is reinforced here by the elixir bottles that symbolise access to the invisible world.
